On March 6, 2019, at Frosina, MKC, a signature event that outlined the importance of gender equality in sports and screening of the movie ”Battle of the sexes’’ was held. This event took place on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, March 8, 2019.
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This action also reflects the need for acceleration and advancement of gender equality in sports.
Following the movie screening a NGO’s fair with local women’s organizations attending took place. At the fair, participants had the possibility to learn about areas of empowerment and volunteerism that relate to gender equality in sport, education, development, tech and more.
The event was supported by the US Embassy in the Republic of North Macedonia.
