Sep 18, 2024

The Sport GVP project, focused on addressing gender-based violence in and through sports, officially kicked off with a meeting in Cyprus on April 25th and 26th. Hosted by CARDET, this event brought together stakeholders and partners to lay a strong foundation for this crucial initiative.

Core of the project is a comprehensive program that seeks to implement a variety of strategies to prevent and combat gender-based violence in the sports sector. During the kickoff meeting, discussions centered on clarifying the project’s objectives, goals, and timelines for effective interventions. Partner’s worked together to align their visions and expectations, promoting a unified approach to ensure the project’s success.

The Sport GVP project aims to generate valuable knowledge and data on the prevalence and types of gender-based violence in sports while also developing effective responses and actions. By promoting equality in the sports arena, the project seeks to address issues of violence, racism, discrimination, and intolerance within athletic communities.

After the kickoff meeting, stakeholders expressed optimism that through collaboration and dedication, the Sport GVP project will make significant strides in eliminating gender-based violence in sports.
